Lapsang Souchong made the way Tongmu itself now prefers it — dried without pine smoke, so nothing stands between you and the leaf. What surfaces is fruit: dried longan and lychee, a clear honey sweetness, cocoa at the edges and a faint floral lift on the finish. Smooth enough to drink without milk and light enough for the afternoon. If you have only ever met Lapsang as a smoky tea, this is the other half of its reputation.
In Chinese this is written 正山小种红茶·无烟熏 and pronounced zhèng shān xiǎo zhǒng.
