Top-grade leaf from Tongmu Guan, the narrow valley inside the Wuyi reserve where black tea was invented and the only place whose tea may be called zheng shan — "true mountain". The smoke is held right back so the leaf can speak: dried longan, honey, cocoa and pine resin, with a thick, syrupy body and a cooling sweetness that keeps returning long after the cup is down. The finest tea on our shelf, and priced like it.
In Chinese this is written 正山小种红茶·特级 and pronounced zhèng shān xiǎo zhǒng.
