The heavily smoked version, dried over burning pine in the traditional qing lou loft until the smoke is part of the leaf rather than a coat on it. Tar, campfire, smoked paprika and a resinous depth, with the tea's own malt sweetness holding underneath so it never turns to ash. Stands up to milk, and to breakfast. This is the style that made the tea famous in Britain — order it if you want the smoke turned all the way up.
In Chinese this is written 正山小种红茶·重烟熏 and pronounced zhèng shān xiǎo zhǒng.
