Fine, tightly wound strips from Qimen county, the tea the English breakfast blend was built around and still the classic base for it. The cup is bright mahogany with the aroma the trade calls the Keemun note — rose and dried stone fruit over cocoa and a faint smokiness that is the leaf's own, not added. Brisk without being harsh, it takes milk gracefully and is just as good clear. The most English-tasting tea in the shop.
In Chinese this is written 祁门红茶 and pronounced qí mén hóng chá.
